DUCATI team KAGAYAMA
5連続表彰台
全日本ロードレース第3戦「全日本スーパーバイクレースinSUGO」が開催。DUCATI team KAGAYAMAが参戦するJSBクラスは、土曜、日曜ともに決勝の2レースが行われた。全日本において最北の開催地となるSUGOは山の地形を生かしたアップダウンのあるコースが特徴、蔵王連峰と調和した東北の拠点となるサーキット。

continued 5th Consecutive podium in Sugo
The 3rd round of All Japan Championship “All Japan Championship Superbike race in Sugo” was held under sunny and windy condition on Saturday but perfect sunny condition on Sunday. Sugo is placed north of main island of Japan with beautiful landscape surrounded by mountains which allows the track layout unique with lots of ups and downs.
DUCATI team KAGAYAMAは事前テストでも好タイムを記録し、数々のデータを積み上げてレースウィークに挑みました。土曜日の決勝の午前中に30分間の計時予選が行われ 水野涼は、1,25.852で全体の2番手タイムを記録。セカンドベストタイムは1,26.126でレース2は3番グリッドと、レース1,レース2ともにフロントローを獲得。
Although it’s again the new circuit for Panigale V4R to run, DUCATI Team KAGAYAMA had set the good lap time at the test a week before even having had 1 day full wet session had given Mizuno to have a chance to run short time with slick tyres. As having had only limited data for the weekend, the team continued to find the best set up during the free practice sessions, and Mizuno had set 1.25’852 in Saturday qualifying session which was the 2nd fastest overall, and his second best lap time 1.26,126 brought him 1 position down to the 3rd on the grid for the Race 2 on Sunday.
決勝レース1が22ラップでスタート。スタートの混戦から3ラップ目に入ったホームストレートで、ducati panigareV4Rのトップスピードの速さを生かして水野がトップに立つ。ヤマハファクトリーの2台を含めた4台のトップグループを、水野が牽引する形で周回を重ねる。8ラップ目にヤマハの岡本に前を許すが、続くラップで再びトップを奪い返すなど攻防を繰り広げた。レース後半残り7ラップ、後方で様子を伺っていたヤマハファクトリーの中須賀がスパート。水野は3番手に後退。ペースの維持が苦しく、前と離される結果となったが、3位でチェッカーを受け表彰台の一角を守った。

前日の課題をもって、日曜の朝のウォームアップ走行では、決勝に向けてセットを変更して走行、好感触を得た水野は朝のセッションでトップタイムを記録した。決勝レース2もレース1と同周回数の22lapで行われた。フロントローの3番手、イン側のグリッドからスタートした水野はバックストレートエンドの馬の背でトップに立つも、SUGOを得意とするヤマハファクトリーの岡本もペースが良く、トップは岡本、水野、中須賀の順。次第に中須賀が遅れはじめ、トップ争いは2台に絞られる。水野は岡本の背後にピタリとつけて最後までチャンスを伺うが、順位は変わらず2位でチェッカー。DUCATI team KAGAYAMAは5戦連続の表彰台を獲得した。
At Race 1, the start was packed and the few riders changed positions aggressively, but at lap3 Mizuno had overtaken them all using the advantage of top speed of Panigale V4R and started to lead the group. The pace of the top group had gradually left the following group and there were 4 riders including 2 Yamahas started to battle in the top group. At lap 8, the top group is consisted with 3 riders now and Yamaha’s Okamoto who had been showing the strong performance since the test overtook Mizuno but Mizuno had overtaken him again and the hard battle was continuing between them. At 7 laps remaining, 12 times JSB champion Nakasuga who was keeping the same pace behind Mizuno and Okamoto started to charge himself and came up to the top of the group. Nakasuga had kept his pace and his position till the end and Mizuno who had struggled to keep his pace the last few laps finished 3rd but defended the podium position.

At Race 2, learning the data from Saturday Race, the team had changed the bike set up which worked positive in 15 min. warm up session on Sunday morning, and this gave Mizuno a positive feeling towards the race. Starting from the 3rd grid, Mizuno set himself to the top position after the back straight in the first lap, but Okamoto didn’t allow him to run away and overtaken him to lead the group instead of him while Nakasuga again was staying just behind them. Although about half distance of the race, Nakasuga had started to struggle to keep his pace and the distance between the top2 and him started to get bigger. Mizuno who had been placing himself just behind Okamoto was looking for the chance to overtake him but he lost his pace a bit in the last few laps which forced him to finish the race where he was only less than 2 second from the winner. This was the 5th consecutive podium for DUCATI Team KAGAYAMA and the team now set for the test for Suzuka 8 Hours.

今回の事前テストの2日目が雨だったので、ドライでのデータを積み重ねる時間が少なく、まだ積み上げている最中ではありましたが、予選では水野の頑張りで1発タイムを刻めたことでフロントローに並ぶことができました。

レース 1では、途中まではいいレースが出来ていたと想いますが、水野にタイヤライフの良いマシンを渡せなかったのがチームとしての反省点。日曜のウォームアップでスタッフがセッティングを変更。チャレンジでしたがそれが功を奏し、目標にしたラップタイムを刻み、水野は粘り強くライディングしてくれました。結果は惜しくも2位でしたがレベルを一つ上げてくれました。

今回のSUGOでは最強のライバルは1人ではなく、一つハードルを超えても新たなハードルが現れましたが、チームもライダーもPanigaleV4Rを理解出来て来て、完璧なセットをライダーに渡せる日が近いと思います。

そして、今回SUGOでも多くのドゥカティファンが集まって応援してもらえました、ライダーもチームも応援が大きな力に変わりとても嬉しく思いました。皆様、ありがとうございました。
It was a bit tough weekend for us to start as we only had one day test with dry set up on this new circuit for our bike and we were not able to have enough data but I’m proud with Ryo’s performance in qualifying to give all his best and set the 2nd fastest lap time overall.

Although we feel sorry for him that we could not able to give him the best set up to finish better in the race. We reviewed and analyzed the data well for Race2 on Sunday and changed the set up, and this had helped Ryo to perform better. We missed the victory again unfortunately but it’s important that he could keep up the pace up until the end, performing strong, and finished only less than 2 second from the winner. I believe that Ryo and the whole team had achieved to the next step this weekend and we are ready to improve more.

I really feel that both Ryo and the team gets to understand our Panigale V4R race by race, and it won’t be too long till we are able to give it to Ryo with the best set up for the race but anyway I’m happy how he adapts it in a short time.

レース1は、途中まで先頭を走れていたのは良かったのですけど、それ以降ついていけるアベレージがなかったことが原因。事前テストではレースラップを走る事ができなかったので、そのデータが取れたことは収穫でした。

レース2は、朝の走行で大きく振ったセットアップを試してみたところ、決勝に向けて良いフィーリングを得ることが出来ました。スタートで岡本選手が前に出たので、逃げられないよう1周目に抜いたのですけど、すぐに抜き返されたので後ろで様子を見ることにしました。結果は2位で納得はしていませんが、バイクの状態もよく最後までアベレージも保ってヤマハファクトリーの後ろにずっとついて行けたことで得られるものがたくさんありました。これまで抱えていた問題を解決できるセットアップが進んだ手応えがあり、それが1番の収穫でした。

鈴鹿8耐を挟んで走れるチャンスがたくさんあるので、やれることを進めて、次のもてぎでは勝てるように仕上げていきたいです。今回もたくさんの応援ありがとうございました!
Race 1 wasn’t easy as we only able to have 1 day test with slick tyres and had no data for the race distance during the test a week before, but we needed to challenge whatever we believe the best.

Although I was able to lead the group for a while, it was clear that my pace was not enough compared to Yamaha pair. Heading to Race2 on Sunday, it was a bit different as we were able to have the efficient data from Race1, and we could find the good set up and I was more ready. As I knew that Okamoto tries to run away from the group immediately as he had a strong pace, I tried to prevent it and overtook him when I saw he made a good start and ready to go at the first lap but he had overtaken me soon after and I decided to follow him and wait for the chance to overtake him again at the last part of the race. Unfortunately it didn’t happen as I struggled to keep the pace last few laps, but I’m quite happy that we could find a good set up to have consistence pace through the race and moreover it was a big advantage for me as I was able to learn a lot to see how Yamaha bike performs and how the rider reacts on it. We had been having few issues to solve since the beginning of the season, and glad that we found the solution for that.

Now we will be focusing on Suzuka 8 Hours and will have good chance to ride and understand more about our bike so I’m really motivated and looking forward for it. I would like to thank you for all the support from Ducati, my team, our sponsors and partners and all the fans who cheers us up.
